I really liked this field. There were a bunch of fig trees that always looked dead; they were twisted at odd angles, they looked very dried out. But secretly, those fig trees are alive. In the spring, they bloom, in the summer they bear fruit. Something about that makes me happy. Like how when you're a kid & you genuinely believe that all of your toys come to life the second you close the bedroom door & walk away. These trees come to life when they think they have everyone fooled. It's like magic, magic that you're able to see when you're a grown up & supposed to be beyond believing in those things, it's wonderful.

A Walk
A few snapshots from a walk I took with a friend back in July. When I think of my time living in the central valley, I think of it as being golden like this all the time. I know full well it wasn't, but that has always been my favorite time of the day so that is how I like to remember

Stringing Charms
One of my favorite things to do is string charms onto a nylon cord & declare it a necklace. Odd mixes are my favorite, things that have nothing at all to do with each other, like this parrot & harp.
These two charms both came from a craft store which is a great place to look, but also check out thrift, vintage, & consignment shops for cute beads & charms!

Ugly Bird Goes Soft
I can't seem to stop making ugly birds! It's like whenever I am presented with materials to create with, one of my first thoughts is, "You know what I could make with this? An ugly bird!"
Anyway, here is a plush ugly bird. Soft & cuddly, she has a bit of an empty stare, but isn't as vacant as she looks!

Disneyland!
In the very long line for Indiana Jones
Anyway, I had a really great time, Disneyland is a lot smaller than I remember & luckily there wasn't much in the way of lines so it was really easy to pack in the full experience in one day. I totally want to go once a year!
