What you Brought Home

So I am still working on that dress but I can never resist starting another project before actually finishing one. Not too long ago, I made this painting. It basically is along the same theme as that ceramics piece I posted the other day, just in a different medium. I suppose those kinds of ideas have just been bouncing around in my head lately.

Here's another picture without those shadows:

Here's a picture of what it looked like while I was working on it:

& I just really like this picture. I was taking a snapshot of the painting, but this little puppy was like, "oh wait, is something getting more attention than I am? That can't be right, let me just stick my head in here."

  2. Just looking through your site makes me want to start creating things again! Now that I'm done with classes for the summer I suppose I should. Actually, I KNOW I should. It's just hard to break back into painting after so long, especially when I've been out of it for so long that I fear I may be rusty, and I'm a perfectionist so if I don't do it amazingly the first time I get annoyed and drop it :<

  5. i'm kind of the same way so i know what you mean! sometimes when a project isn't going how i wanted, i just feel like scrapping the thing & moving on.

for the most part, i just focus on the actual act of making something rather than what i wish the end result to look like. this way, even if something comes out really ugly, i at least had a great time making it! also i can be a bit stubborn at times & once i get an idea in my head, i feel i have to pursue it to its end.

i would love to see your paintings if you do decide to get back into it!

  6. Such a beautiful painting I love this theme of pain/suffering and then slowly healing from it. Thank you so much for your recommendation of Live Mocha... I am going to try it out and see if it works for me! :)

  7. thanks! that whole thing has been so important to me lately. i am definitely on the end of feeling better than ever, but it was no easy task getting there. in a way, i am almost glad for the bad experience, it certainly expanded my views on things & really helped me to relate to people on a different level. i think most of us have experienced things so painful, we weren't sure we'd make it out all right. i think it's so beautiful how people face these things & are able to take on so much.

i hope you like live mocha! i certainly enjoyed using it when i did. maybe i will jump back on since i have more time now, but hmmmm what language to study? so many choices!
